Vehicle Save (UK) t/as National Car & Van Rental with five rental branches across the South West peninsula has generously donated a 2.00 litre family saloon car from the daily rental fleet for a long weekend hire as an auction prize for a local worthy cause.

Exmouth’s Withycombe Rugby Club Sports dinner  being held on 18th July with guest speaker England and British Lions legend Jason Leonard aka “The Fun Bus” is an annual event which raises funds for ‘The Wooden Spoon Charity’ and also for the benefit of the club.  And this year’s popular event is already a sell-out with all 125 tickets sold! 

Leonard an English former rugby union prop forward who held the world record for winning the most international caps until 2005 when it was surpassed by Australia’s scrum-half George Gregan, still holds the current record as the world’s most-capped forward.  During his illustrious career as an England player, Leonard won the highest international accolades possible: Grand Slams (1991, 1992, 1995 and 2003) and the 2003 rugby world cup.  He also won a British and Irish Lions Test series on the 1997 tour of South Africa.Further entertainment at this high profile sports event will be provided by local comedian Tank Sherman who is known for being very funny without the need to swear.

John Passmore, Social Secretary WRFC said:“Having Jason Leonard as guest speaker helped to drive the ticket sales and we were sold out incredibly quickly.  It promises to be a memorable evening for sports fans and Tank Sherman will be providing the comedy element.  In addition there will be two auctions; the first will be in aid of the very worthy Wooden Spoon Charity and the second will raise funds for the benefit of the club to allow us to develop our newly formed Junior Section.  As well as signed sports memorabilia we have lots of prizes for non-sporting guests and are very grateful to National Car & Van Rental for donating a fantastic prize of a long weekend hire of a 2.00 litre saloon car which fits in perfectly with the family membership ethos of the club.”
